It’s so much fun to make a birthday card, and I love the bright and fun designs of our Picture Perfect Party Designer Series Papers and coordinating Picture Perfect Birthday Stamp Set. This Suite pushed me out of my grey/pink/white/neutrals comfort zone and right into colour and I decided to push myself even further and make shaker cards.
Shaker Cards – How To
To make the Whisper White background shaker card, I adhered a rectangle of Vellum Card Stock over a rectangle of Whisper White card using a tiny amount of Fast Fuse within the rectangle. Fast Fuse is clear (unlike Snail Adhesive) so is great to use under Vellum, or Glue Dots would do too. Then I got my sewing machine out and sewed around the rectangle just leaving a narrow gap at the top. I funnelled some sequins into the stitched pouch and then sewed up the gap so it was completely contained.
Then I paired the Suite with the Celebrations Embossing Duo from our Annual Catalogue and some more Whisper White to make the sequins and candle decorations really pop. The white card is definitely my kind of style, but for the second card I pushed myself a little more.
Shaker Card Two
For this card I changed the white background for some of the Designer Series Paper and used Lemon Lime Twist and Fresh Fig for my card black, stamping and embossed greeting.
The candles and embellishments are along the same lines as the first card but I took away the Pool Party and added in more Peekaboo Peach, particularly with the amazing greetings from the Stamp Set.
I love the Shaker Card effect for a fun alternative to a traditional card and hope you’ll have a go with your sewing machine and our beautiful sequins.
